Who Owns the data stored on ProofPilot

ProofPilot is part of an emerging movement that feels research participants own their own data and should have access to do with it as they please.

ProofPilot does not share, analyze or otherwise process the data without authorization from the participant.

We will note that legal precedent does not support ProofPilot’s mission to give participants ownership of their data. Technically it is owned by the organization that sponsors the study. If you are on the pilot plan, we do default everyone to the participant data ownership. On all other levels, we hope that you will take part in the emerging best practice of participant data ownership.

We encourage those who are unfamiliar with this emerging best practice to make themselves aware of organizations like OpenHumans or Pfizer’s data availability effort.
